Allenville Christian Church plans concert
ALLENVILLE -- The Allenville Christian Church will be hosting a benefit concert at 6 p.m. Saturday with performer Greg Ridenhour, who was born legally blind.
There will be refreshments following the concert. The public is invited. The church is handicapped accessible.

Southern Gospel Music coming to church
SALEM -- Greater Vision, The Mark Trammel Quartet, and the Second Half Quartet will be appearing in concert at the First Christian Church in Salem at 7 p.m. tonight. This concert is sponsored by southern Illinois’ Homecoming Gospel Choir.
The First Christian Church is located at 1200 W. Boone. Doors will open at 6 p.m. All seating is reserved seating. For tickets and/or additional information, contact John or Judy Roberts at 618-245-9133.
Friendship Baptist Church to hold annual BBQ
CHARLESTON -- Friendship Baptist Church, located at 18709 East Harrison St., will celebrate its annual BBQ -- gospel sing event on Saturday, Oct. 20.
This meal is their way of saying "thank you" to the community by offering the meal and all its trimmings at no charge for those attending. The Gospel Singing Concert will follow the meal, featuring "The Chosen Ones." They have been their guest at the annual BBQ the past number of years
The Chosen Ones are currently celebrating over 40 years in the gospel music field, having begun their ministry in 1974. They have sung throughout the United States and abroad in excess of 150 appearances a year. Their latest recording, "Future Generations," was released in June of 2016.
This concert will follow a special dinner prepared by the women of the church, who will serving the BBQ with many dishes and desserts. They invite any and all who have been here before to come back and enjoy the meal at 5 p.m. followed by the "Chosen Ones" at 7 p.m. A free will offering will be received for the Chosen Ones' performance.
Taylors to perform at St. John's Lutheran in Royal
ROYAL -- The Taylors, a sibling trio from North Carolina, will perform at the St. John Lutheran Church in Royal at 6 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 21. Doors open at 5 p.m.; no tickets are required.
The Taylors have performed in front of audiences from North Carolina to Norway. A free will offering will be collected. Catch them in Illinois before they leave for a tour in the United Kingdom.
During intermission, they will be giving away free tickets to upcoming concerts.
