SAINT MARY-OF-THE-WOODS, Ind. -- Spend Sunday, May 19, at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods, Indiana, and learn more about sustainable farming during Sundays at the Woods: Farm Tour at White Violet Center for Eco-Justice.
The event will take place from 2-4 p.m. Attendees will get close and personal with the Sisters of Providence alpaca herd – which should have some new additions by the time the event takes place – and learn more about the certified organic operation of White Violet Center.
White Violet Center is a ministry of the congregation. The center includes a herd of alpacas, chickens, a 5-acre USDA certified organic garden, orchards, bee hives, a nature trail and Farm Store.
White Violet Center Director Lorrie Heber will facilitate the event. She said those attending should meet at the center for a brief overview before the tour begins.
“At every stop, we’ll talk about care for creation through our agricultural methods and practices,” she said. “It’s such a joy to show off White Violet Center and its grounds during the beautiful spring. Knowing that people grow in knowledge and appreciation of Earth’s gifts is the best fulfillment of our educational ministry.”
There is no cost to attend the event, but donations will be warmly welcomed.
