This cat and dog are available for adoption at the County Animal Rescue and Education Center. The cat is "Rusty," a 3- to 4-year-old spayed female calico. She is housebroken and good with kids. The dog is “Kate,” a 2-year-old spayed female Airedale.


CARE center hours and fees are:


The CARE center, located on Loxa Road, one mile south of Illinois Route 16, is open from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, and from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays.


The adoption fee for a cat is $41, which includes spay/neuter. Cats that are 5 years old and older are $21 each. All dogs and cats leaving the shelter are required to be microchipped, which is included in the adoption fee. All cats must now be registered within 30 days of adoption. Dog adoption fees are $41, with an additional $50 for male dogs and $75 for females that come to the shelter unaltered. The shelter offers low-cost spay and neuters.
