ASHMORE — A road near Ashmore is scheduled to be closed starting Tuesday for a bridge replacement project.

The work is set to take place on Coles County Road 1040N about two miles east of Ashmore, according to a news release from the Coles County Highway Department.

The release said the work will take place weather permitting and the road is expected to be closed for two months.

The work will consist of removing and replacing the existing bridge along with road and ditch construction, according to the release.
