CHARLESTON -- The Charleston Moose Lodge, for the first time, will be organizing a Veterans Day-related service for veterans in the area -- specifically ones who are Moose members.

Moose International started a program, Valued Veterans, last year focused on honoring veterans among their membership base, Angie Campbell, local Valued Veteran coordinator, said. And now, the local chapter members are organizing a service to recognize veterans among their ranks as well as naming a Valued Veteran of the Year.

Campbell noted only those veterans who are Moose members will be recognized; however, the event is open to the public.

The Charleston Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps will be presenting the colors during the ceremony and the Charleston High School choir will be singing the national anthem and another song.

Campbell noted this is their first time organizing an event specifically toward honoring veterans.

The service will take place at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Charleston Moose Lodge, at 615 Seventh St.
