MATTOON (JG-TC) -- The city plans to hold its annual curbside collection of live Christmas trees from Wednesday to Friday next week.

All live trees needing picked up must be placed on the city boulevard by 7 a.m. Wednesday. Public Works Department crews will make one tour of Mattoon to collect the live trees. The trees must be free of ornaments, lights, stands and plastic bags because the trees will be taken to the city’s yard waste facility and ground into mulch.

The yard waste facility, located along Logan Street, is open daily during daylight hours for those Mattoon residents wishing to dispose of trees themselves.
