CHARLESTON -- A dedication ceremony for the Coles County Habitat for Humanity chapter's newest house project is scheduled for Saturday.

The ceremony is set for 10 a.m. at 616 N. Fourth St., Charleston, the new home of Amber Pedigo and her family, a news release about the event said.

More than 80 volunteers worked a total of more than 2,000 hours to build the home, according to the news release. The release said the public is welcome to attend Saturday's ceremony.

The release also said the chapter has approved its next two partner families whose homes will be built in Mattoon next year.

Habitat for Humanity helps families obtain homes through construction help and no-interest mortgages. The release said anyone interested in more information about the organization can call the county chapter's office at 217-345-7063.

Also, the chapter's annual "Habitaste" fundraiser is scheduled for 5-7:30 p.m. Sept. 27 at Unique Suites in Charleston, the news release said. Tickets and more information are available by calling the chapter office, it said.
