CHARLESTON -- A traffic stop on Monday led to the arrest of two people on drug offenses, according to Charleston police.

Methamphetamine and marijuana found in the car led to the arrest of Paige N. Kearney, 20, of Windsor an a 28-year-old Charleston man, according to a news release from Charleston police.

The release said the traffic stop took place about 11:25 a.m. Monday near the intersection of Division Street and Jackson Avenue.

During the stop, a police K-9 alerted, leading to the search of the car and the discovery of the drugs, the release said. The vehicle, which Kearney was driving, was seized pending a forfeiture hearing, it said.

Coles County court records show that Kearney has been charged with methamphetamine in connection with the arrest. The court records don't show any charges yet on file against the man who was arrested.
