CHARLESTON -- A Mattoon man was arrested early Friday for reportedly breaking into a Charleston home and attacking a man.
Aaron M. Dalby, 44, has been charged with home invasion in connection with the incident, according to Coles County court records.
Police were called to the home on Westgate Drive at 12:30 a.m. Friday after receiving a report that the man who lived there was attacked while in his bed, according to Charleston police Detective Tony West.
The attacker left before police arrived but a vehicle matching the description of the one he drove was soon located, West said. The driver was identified as Dalby, who was also arrested for driving under the influence, he said.

West said the investigation determined that Dalby was apparently upset with the other man because of his relationship with a woman. The man's injuries were not serious, he said.
Dalby is jailed with his bond requiring $2,500 to be posted for release. He has a court appearance scheduled for Oct. 21.
The home invasion charge against Dalby would require a prison sentence of six to 30 years if he is s convicted. He also faces a misdemeanor DUI charge.
