MATTOON — A report of a man yelling and acting irrationally led to his arrest for methamphetamine possession, according to Mattoon police.

A news release said the 37-year-old Mattoon man was arrested about 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday in the 1700 block of Broadway Avenue.

It said methamphetamine was found in his possession after police made contact with him after responding to the report.

Also according to the release, a 41-year-old Mattoon woman was arrested for methamphetamine possession and resisting police after a traffic stop on Thursday.

It said the stop took place about 9:30 a.m. in the 100 block of South 17th Street. Methamphetamine was found and the woman resisted officers while being handcuffed, the release said.

Also, a 21-year-old Mattoon man was arrested after he reportedly hit and kicked another man at the Mattoon Walmart store, the release said.

Fire damages house in Charleston on Thursday

The arrest took place on Thursday after the report of the incident at the store the day before, according to the release.
