MATTOON — Jacqueline Joines, Executive Director for College Advancement and Foundation CEO, was a speaker at a recent meeting of the Mattoon Lions Club.
Joines presented information about the continuing success of the Lake Land College Foundation. That success, she said, comes thanks to giving by a host of community businesses, individuals, and alumni, including 100 percent of board members at the College, and 66 percent of College employees, and she said growth in the Foundation endowment is evidence that things are going well.
She also shared that the Foundation is the recent recipient of a 355-acre farm from Mr. & Mrs. Wayne and the late Clara Borgic of Pana. The farm includes a home which is rented by a Lake Land College alumnus, and the land will be farmed with net earnings benefitting two scholarships and supporting the continuing growth of the College. She expressed her appreciation of the Lions’ investment in the scholarship fund.
