CHARLESTON -- Eastern Illinois University spring enrollment numbers will come out later today, according to officials.

A problem in the reporting process at the university required more time for staff to crunch this semester's 10th-day enrollment numbers, the nationally accepted standard for tracking university and college enrollments, said EIU spokesman Josh Reinhart.

He said these numbers will come out later today. The fall semester numbers served as an important shift for the university and the community. As previously reported in the JG-TC, the university saw 7,526 students enrolled at EIU in fall last year, an increase of 7.1 percent from the fall before. This was the first enrollment increase in a decade for the institution.
