Former Lincoln farm land

Farm ground once owned by Abraham Lincoln in southern Coles County near Lincoln Log Cabin State Historic Site is set to be sold at auction on Tuesday.

CHARLESTON -- The 30 acres in Coles County that Abraham Lincoln once owned sold for $300,000 this morning.

The land in Coles County was up for auction with other farm land by the Best family.

A representative of the buyer of the Lincoln land said the buyer wanted to remain anonymous. Plans for the land are unknown thus far, according to that representative.

The other 560 acres that was for sale by the family auctioned for $3.9 million.
