MATTOON (JG-TC) -- More than 50 farm tractors, riding lawn mowers, and other pieces of machinery are on display this week at the Cross County Mall in preparation for the upcoming Spring Tractor Show.
The East Central Illinois Antique Farm Equipment Club plans to hold its annual show Friday through Sunday. This show will feature agriculture business vendors, farm-related children's activities, a B & G Antique Tractor Parts booth, farm toy and pedal tractor displays, a Campbell Apiaries honey making exhibit, and more.
Scheduled activities include a children's tractor pull at 1 p.m. Saturday, with registration at 12:30 p.m., and a Tom & The Country Boys Band concert at 6:30 p.m. Saturday. The concert will be held in front of the former Sears store, where Rural King will have displays. These displays will include Rural King tractors and other farm products, as well as free Chick Days coloring pages for children
In addition, the East Central Illinois Antique Farm Equipment Club plans to sponsor its inaugural quilt show during the Spring Tractor Show. The quilt show will be open 5-8 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Saturday and noon-3 p.m. Sunday. Saturday's session of the quilt show will also feature live demonstrations of port covers, 11 a.m.; string quilting, 1 p.m.; simple hour block cutting, 2 p.m.; and a beginners guide to quilting, 3 p.m.
