TAYLOR, Richard Eugene, 88, Arthur, formerly of Atwood, died Monday (Aug. 12, 2019). Shrader Funeral Home, Arthur.
MATTOON — Donald “Donnie” L. Pennefather, age 72 of Mattoon, IL passed away at 9:40 AM, Sunday, August 11, 2019 at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center after a lengthy illness with family by his side.
A funeral service in his honor will be held at noon, Friday, August 16, 2019 at Mitchell-Jerdan Funeral Home, 1200 Wabash Avenue, Mattoon, IL 61938; Reverend Don Pankey will officiate. A committal service will be held immediately after the service in Resthaven Memorial Gardens with Military Rites conducted by Mattoon VFW Post 4325. A visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until the time of service at the funeral home.
Donnie was born in Charleston, IL on October 2, 1946, the son of Patrick L. and Dixie R. (Keigley) Pennefather. He married his high school sweetheart Judy A. Beachey on December 7, 1968. He is survived by his loving wife of fifty years, Judy Pennefather of Mattoon, IL; sister, Pam S. Seibert; brother, Gary Hawyer and wife Barb; nephew, Jeremy Hawyer and Ted, all of St. Augustine, FL; nephew, Travis Hawyer and wife Tara of Orange Park, FL; aunt, Patty Quigley of Mattoon, IL; mother-in-law, Catherine Beachey of Mattoon, IL; sister-in-law, Martha McCoskey of Longview, IL ;brother-in-law, Bob Beachey and wife Linda of Crossville, TN; and many cousins, great nieces and nephews, and fur baby, Oreo.
Donnie was preceded in death by his parents; stepfather, Eldon Hawyer; father-in-law, Jake Beachey; brother-in-law, Harry Seibert; and nephew, Harry Seibert III.
Donnie honorably served our country during the Vietnam War in the Army. He was employed by Catervend and farmed for the Overton family for many years. He was a member of Mattoon Eagles Lodge and Mattoon VFW Lodge 4325. He enjoyed listening to old time country music, watching NASCAR, cheering for Dale Earnhardt Sr. and Jr., and rooting for St. Louis Cardinals. Donnie was a proud lifelong resident of Mattoon, IL who enjoyed socializing amongst the community. He did not know a stranger and was the unofficial greeter at Wal-Mart. His zest for life and cheerful personality made a lasting impact on many and cherished forever.

MATTOON — Rachel Faye McFarland, age 37, of Mattoon, Illinois, formerly of Farina, Illinois passed away tragically Saturday, August 10, 2019 at 12:48 a.m. at her residence in Mattoon, Illinois.
Funeral service will be at 12:00 p.m. Saturday, August 17, 2019 at the Friedens United Church of Christ in Farina, Illinois with visitation from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. prior to the service. Rachel was born on July 20, 1982 at Salem Township Hospital in Salem, Illinois, to Greg and Teresa (Halterman) Sigrist. Rachel worked many years managing the McDonalds in Mattoon, Illinois. She enjoyed spending time with family, friends, swimming, trying new recipes and new hairstyles. Rachel had a sweet personality and always had a smile on her face that would light up a room. She was a dedicated mother, first and foremost, to her son Colton. She loved watching him play sports, taking him on vacations, to the movies, and swimming. Her son meant the world to her and she cherished the wonderful times that she spent with him.
Rachel is survived by her beloved son, Colton McFarland of Mattoon, Illinois; father, Greg Sigrist (wife Tammy) of Farina, Illinois; mother, Teresa Boyles (fiancé Lloyd Holder) of Nashville, Illinois; three brothers, Lucas Sigrist (wife Kellie) of Salem, Illinois, Clint Sigrist (wife Lindsey) of Vandalia, Illinois, and Dylan Halterman of Pinkneyville, Illinois; two sisters, Andrea Halterman of Nashville, Illinois, and Alannah Sigrist of Belleville, Illinois; very special grandparents, Carolyn Sigrist of Farina, Illinois and Charles Halterman (wife Donna) of Farina, Illinois; many nieces, nephews and close friends.
She was preceded in death by her very special grandfather, Dallas Sigrist.
MATTOON — Joseph Wayne McFarland, age 37, of Mattoon passed away on Saturday, August 10, 2019 at his residence.
Funeral services honoring his life will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 15, 2019 at Schilling Funeral Home with Pastor Brad Brown officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Gardens. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
Joseph was born on November 22, 1981 in Mattoon the son of Gary Wayne and Teresa Ann (McNamer) McFarland. He married Rachel Faye Sigrist in May of 2007.
Survivors include his son, Colton McFarland; parents, Gary (Teresa) McFarland; aunts, Dee Armstrong, and Debbie Boughan; uncle, Rick (Jane) McNamer; nieces, Katie McNamer, Bridget Pearson, Gina Milne, Kelsey Boughan; grandmother, Wanda Rowland; brothers, George Tucker, Shane Fuller.
Joseph was preceded in death by his wife Rachel McFarland; and grandparents Gay McNamer, Gary McNamer, Gene McFarland.
Everyone will remember Joe for his big smile and great personality. He began working for his family business McFarland Steel as soon as he graduated High School in 2000. Joe had a love for cars, especially mustangs. He also enjoyed going fishing and being around animals of all kinds. Joe always loved spending time catching up with his family.

CHARLESTON--Richard “Bud” Allen White, 83, formerly of Charleston, Illinois, peacefully passed to his heavenly home, surrounded by his loving family, on Monday, July 29, 2019 in Stillwater, Oklahoma.
At his request, an intimate celebration of his life was held immediately following his passing with family in attendance.
Richard “Bud” White was born May 16, 1936, to Vourse and Jesse (Smith) White in Coffeen, Illinois. He married his college sweetheart, Mary Ann Cammin, on June 29, 1958, having met while both were attending Greenville College in Greenville, Illinois. He is survived by his wife Mary, two children Robin (Sergio) Darmon of San Diego, CA, Mark (Karen) White of Stillwater, Oklahoma and four grandchildren – Alex Darmon, Sarah Darmon, Blake White, and Jesse White.
His thirty-plus year career in the Department of Elementary and Junior High Education at Eastern Illinois University was one of continual delight and enthusiasm. However, the greatest priority and sense of joy in Bud's life were his faith and family. His love for his family, his sincere faith, and his profound gratefulness for the many blessings in his life was a model to all of us.

CHARLESTON -- Harriet McLaughlin Rose, 85, formerly of Charleston, Illinois, passed away on Monday, August 5, 2019. Harriet is survived by a very grateful son, Chapin (Camille) Rose; grandchildren: Jack, Annie, Kira, and Grace and other relatives.
As a single mom, she returned to school, completing a bachelor’s and masters from the University of Illinois. She was an administrative director at Eastern Illinois University where she retired in 2002.
During her Charleston years, she was a proud member of the OBS ladies club, taught adjunct business classes at Lake Land College, and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church.
In retirement she attended several EIU employee alumni events and she very much enjoyed and loved her grandchildren to whom she will forever be known as “HaHa”.
She earnestly believed that anyone could do anything they put their mind to - if they were willing to work for it.

MATTOON — Peggy L. Moses, 78, of Mattoon, IL and formerly of Toledo passed away at 3:15 AM on August 4, 2019 at Mattoon Rehab and Health Care Center.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM on Monday August 12, 2019 at the Barkley Funeral Chapel in Toledo. Visitation will be from 1:00 PM to service time on Monday at the funeral chapel. Burial will be in the Tippett Cemetery rural Toledo, IL.
Peggy was born in Chattanooga, TN on June 28, 1941 to Rueben Clinton & Jonnie Marie (Shaver) Childress. She married Everett Moses and he preceded her in 1996.
Surviving is her daughter Theresa Manus; step sons Jim Moses and Robert Moses; grandchildren Harold Drum, John Drum, George Drum, Christina Drum, Harry Manus Jr, Brandon Drum and Justin Moses; five great grandchildren; brothers David and Gene Childress and one sister Joyce Barnes.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother; one sister; and son Harold Drum.
CHARLESTON -- Kevin Lee Barnes, age 50 of Charleston, left his earthly body on Monday, August 5, 2019. Visitation will be held from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 10, 2019 at Life In Christ Fellowship, 7700 Deerpath Road in Charleston. The Memorial Service will begin at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday with Pastor Mike Loy officiating. Kevin was born on January 12, 1969 in Charleston, Illinois, the son of David Lynn Barnes and Barbara Jean (Ashby) Barnes. He married Karrie Anne Slightom on December 19, 1987. He is survived by his wife, Karrie Anne Barnes; four children, Kristen Maureen (Barnes) Rardin and husband Andy, Kevin Nickolas Barnes, Kevin Jordan Barnes, and Kabrina LeeAnne Barnes and her special friend, Rogelio “Roy” Reyes, all of Charleston; four grandchildren, Ziggens Lee Kidwell, Garrus Kane Rardin, Azyri Fae Rardin, and Nico Starling Barnes; his mother, Barbara Jean Barnes; two brothers, Jeremy Scott Barnes and Cory Lynn Barnes; his grandmother, Edith Barnes; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Kevin was also a father figure to many other “sons and daughters”. He was preceded in death by his father.
Kevin was in the Class of 1987 at Charleston High School. He was most recently employed and treated like family by Lester Buildings where he ran the hardware department. He is loved and deeply missed by all who knew him.

CHARLESTON -- Virginia E. Davis, 91, of Charleston, IL passed away at 5:00 A.M. on Tuesday, July 30, 2019 at Miller Health Care Center in Kankakee, IL.
Private family services will be held at a later date.Virginia was born on October 7, 1927 in Irving, IL. She was a daughter of Guy and Cynthia (Morehouse) Eddington. She married Albert “Max” Davis on December 8, 1945 in Charleston, IL. He passed away on March 2, 2017.
She is survived by one daughter, Nan, married to Tim Rehmer, one daughter-in-law, Maggie Davis, four grandchildren, T.R. Davis, Anna Wilson, married to Joel Wilson, Brenna Okoth and Betsy Lusk married to Shanian Lusk, nine great-grandchildren and one sister, Helen Paddock.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one son, Terry Davis and one sister, Joann Stroup.
Virginia was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church in Charleston, IL. She had been the president of Charleston Civic Association and the president of C.U.P., Community Upholding Persons.
