MATTOON (JG-TC) -- The Mattoon Public Library plans to hold a Family Game Night on Friday and to debut a Game Club for teens on Saturday.

The library reported in a press release that the Family Game Night is designed to bring families and friends together to play traditional board games at the library. A variety of games will be provided for this activity from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday on the first floor of the library.

On Saturday, the teen Game Club is scheduled to meet from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. on the second floor. The library has approximately 15 new games designed for young adults. Many of these games were donated by the manufacturers. The new games include team building and deck building card games, as well as strategy based games, designed for every skill level.

“The library for many years has had various traditional board games available for patrons to use as they enjoy the library,” library Director Carl Walworth said in the press release. “As we began having success acquiring some of the new games coming on to the market, we developed the idea to have activities for families and friends as well as to promote the new games for our teens.”
