MATTOON — The Coles County Highway Department has reported that a road that intersects with Lake Road in Mattoon Township will be temporarily closed for construction starting Monday, weather permitting.

The township plans to replace an existing box culvert on County Road 280E approximately 4 miles southwest of Mattoon. The closure will take place between the intersections of County Road 400N and Lake Road. This work will require closing 280E for approximately three weeks in duration during the culvert replacement work.

Mattoon Township reported that it regrets any inconvenience caused by this construction, but the short inconvenience of the closure will result in safer driving conditions.
