PARIS — The Paris man who died after a semitruck overturned southwest of the city Wednesday morning has been identified as Garrett T. Woltman, 24.

The Edgar County Coroner's Office indicated an autopsy will take place to determine the cause of the death. Woltman was a passenger in the truck.

The truck's driver, Brett A. Bell, 24, of Paris, was taken to Terre Haute Regional Hospital with what were described as non-life threatening injuries, the coroner's office indicated.

According to an Illinois State Police news release, the truck was traveling along East Terra Haute Road at 10:33 a.m. Wednesday when it left the roadway for an unknown reason and overturned on its passenger side.

It said both the driver and passenger were not wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.

Bell was ticketed for failure to reduce speed to avoid and accident, improper lane usage, not having a commercial driver's license and failure to wear a seat belt, according to the release.
