MATTOON — A driver died from injuries in a single-vehicle accident in southwestern Coles County Sunday morning, according to Illinois State Police.

A news release said the driver's SUV went off the road and hit a bridge guard rail on County Road 250N near the south end of Lake Paradise at 6:30 a.m. Sunday.

It said the driver was ejected from the vehicle, then taken by helicopter to an unspecified hospital and pronounced dead. The driver wasn't wearing a seat belt, the release said.

The driver's name wasn't released, pending notification of family, the release said.
