Work to extinguish the fires included moving paper bales by hand to reach the fires, the release said. The plant is located at 6821 E. County Road 1100N, just east of U.S. Route 45 north of Mattoon.

Fire crews were at the scene until about 12:15 a.m. Wednesday, according to the release. It also said the Charleston Fire Department assisted with the fire.
