MATTOON -- Two men were arrested in separate incidents for possession of methamphetamine and other offenses, according to Mattoon police.

The first arrest took place just before 9 a.m. Friday in the 1300 block of Piatt Avenue, when a 44-year-old Mattoon man was taken into custody on a warrant for violation of an order of protection, according to a news release.

After the arrest, police found methamphetamine in the man's possession, the release said.

Also, a 43-year-old Charleston man was arrested about 1:10 a.m. Saturday after reportedly hitting another man at the Triple Nickel Saloon, 1800 DeWitt Ave., the release also said.

The suspect left the tavern and was located later, when police found methamphetamine and cocaine in his possession, the news release said.
