MATTOON -- The National Weather Service warned area residents that the incoming storm could bring pea-sized hail and 30 mile per hour winds. 

The Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm near

Mattoon moving northeast at 20 mph. at 5:22 p.m., according to the National Weather Service.

Along with Mattoon and Charleston, Neoga, Humboldt, Lerna, Janesville,

Paradise, Hutton, Etna, Fairgrange, Bushton and Trilla are expected to be impacted by the storm.

Scattered storms are forecasted throughout the evening. Thunderstorms are expected to will be an ongoing threat through the weekend with continuous heavy rains throughout, according to the National Weather Service.
