Mattoon police

Sarah E. Rundles of Mattoon was ticketed for failing to yield for a collision with a vehicle driven by Phyllis E. Brazzell of Mattoon at 1:22 p.m. May 3 at Marshall Avenue and South 16th Street. A Mitchell-Jerdan Ambulance Service crew took Brazzell to Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center for treatment of injuries.


Jared F. Temples of Oakland was ticketed for failing to reduce speed to avoid an accident for striking the back of a fishing boat being hauled by Russell Camp at 10:34 a.m. May 2 at Illinois Route 16 and Swords Drive.

Vehicles driven by Cassandra A. Freese of rural Sullivan and Stephanie N. Strowmatt of Windsor were involved in an accident at the intersection of County Roads 750N and 200E at 1:48 p.m. April 30. Freese, 20, was cited for failure to yield.

Charleston fire

A system malfunction activated an alarm at Cougill Apartments, 500 W. Polk Ave., about 2:50 p.m. Thursday.

Mattoon fire

Firefighters responded to a carbon monoxide alarm at 1:20 a.m. Thursday in the 2600 block of Commercial Avenue. Their gas meters did not detect any carbon monoxide at the scene.
