Mattoon police

Driver Amanda D. Ward of Lakewood was injured when her sport utility vehicle was rear-ended by a car driven by Seth W. Icenogle of Toledo at 11:12 a.m. Thursday at Illinois Route 16 and Swords Drive. The Mitchell-Jerdan Ambulance Service took Ward to Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center for treatment of injuries. Icenogle was ticketed for improper use of an electronic communication device. Icenogle reported that he had been using his cellphone at the time of the collision.

Driver April D. Banning of Neoga was injured when her passenger car was struck by a SUV driven by Theresa L. Walker of Toledo at 6:15 p.m. Monday at Charleston Avenue East and Crestview Avenue. A Mitchell-Jerdan ambulance crew took Banning to Sarah Bush Lincoln for treatment of injuries. Walker was ticketed for disobeying a traffic control device.

Driver Freda G. Wheeler of Mattoon was injured when her SUV struck a minivan driven by Jarod P. Kiger of Mattoon at 5:09 p.m. Monday at North 27th Street and Richmond Avenue. A Mitchell-Jerdan ambulance crew took Wheeler to Sarah Bush Lincoln for treatment of injuries. Wheeler was ticketed for failing to yield.

A sport utility vehicle driven by Dow Wershila of Mattoon crashed into the front of Blue Diamond Slots, 609 N. Logan St., while she was attempting to pull into a parking space there at 2:20 a.m. Oct. 11.

Charleston police

Vehicles driven by Nakayla R. Cowley of Chicago and Degwert Ulrich of Lakeland, Florida, were involved in an accident at the intersection of Lincoln Avenue and 18th Street at 4:18 p.m. Oct. 7. Cowley, 20, was cited for disobeying a traffic control device.

The vehicle driven by Renae S. Hernandez of rural Charleston hit the vehicle belonging to Steven E. Pamperin of Charleston while it was parked at Charleston High School, 1615 Lincoln Ave., at 4 p.m. Oct. 8.

Vehicles driven by Lana M. Biose and Rebecca L. Snively, both of Charleston, were involved in an accident at the intersection of Lincoln Avenue and Fourth Street at 8:27 p.m. Oct. 11. Biose, 29, was cited for improper lane use.

Mattoon fire

Firefighters responded at 1:31 p.m. Friday to an alarm triggered by an overhearing motor in an air conditioning unit at Mattoon Rehabilitation & Health Care Center, 2121 S. Ninth St.

Firefighters responded to a carbon monoxide alarm at 8 p.m. Wednesday in the 2300 block of Essex Avenue. Nothing was found.

Firefighters responded to report of illegal leaf burns at 5:38 p.m. Wednesday in the 3200 block of Richmond Avenue and 1:04 p.m. Thursday in the 900 block of South 35th Street.

Charleston fire

A problem with a sump pump activated an alarm at 29 Miller Ave. at 7 a.m. Thursday.
