Rabbit show at the Mattoon mall

American Rabbit Breeders Association judge Bob Price of Hanover, Ind. looks over New Zealand white rabbits during the Rabbit Renegades Rabbit Breeders Association show on Saturday, Dec. 8 in the former Carson's store space at the Cross County Mall in Mattoon.

MATTOON --A new, regional American Rabbit Breeders Association-sanctioned show is being held throughout today (Saturday, Dec. 8) at the Cross County Mall in Mattoon.

The Rabbit Renegades Rabbit Breeders Association, a local chapter of the American association, has organized this show in the former Carson's store space. Mattoon resident Bob Donnell, who is chapter president, said the event has drawn a total of approximately 2,000 rabbit entries shown by breeders from more than a dozen states.

Admission to the rabbit show is free and open to the public. The interior and exterior entrances to the Carson's space are open for the show, and the Don Sol Mexican Grill food truck is at the exterior door.

The mall is also hosting a Transportation Hobby Show today that features model trains, airplanes and other vehicles. In addition, several Christmas season vendors are open at the mall among the regular stores there.
