SHELBYVILLE — A 49-year-old Shelbyville man died early Monday morning when he collided with a vehicle that crossed into his path, Illinois State Police said in a news release.

The accident occurred at 4:53 a.m. along Illinois 16 at County Road 1995 East in Shelby County.

According to preliminary findings, state police said a truck driven by Christopher P. Wood, 50, of Greenfield, Indiana was traveling west on Illinois 16 when it ran off the right side of the road. State police said Wood overcorrected, causing the vehicle to slide across the median and into the eastbound lane where it was struck on its passenger side by an eastbound truck.
