Charleston fire 

Firefighters responded to a fire alarm at 6:49 p.m. Wednesday at Eastern Illinois University's Greek Court. The alarm was set off by burnt food.

Firefighters responded to a fire call at 2:21 a.m. Thursday at 1501 1/2 18th St. A fire alarm was set off because of a system malfunction. 

Charleston police 

Ethan Monical of Sidney struck a light pole with a vehicle at 1:40 a.m. Sunday at the intersection of West Lincoln Avenue and University Drive. Monical was cited for improper lane usage, driving too fast for conditions, illegal transportation or possession of alcoholic beverages, operating a vehicle without insurance, having an alcohol concentration in the blood or breath of 0.08 or more and being under the influence of alcohol.

Vehicles driven by Mary Harding and Gregory Lahr, both of Charleston, were involved in an accident at 3:18 p.m. Monday at the intersection of West Lincoln Avenue and University Avenue. Harding was cited for following too closely.
