MATTOON (JG-TC) -- Police arrested Chelsea C. Lee, 41, of Terre Haute, Ind., for allegedly striking another woman in the head with a glass container and kicked in a bedroom door in the 800 block of N 20th St.
According to Mattoon police, Lee was found to be in possession of methamphetamine Wednesday during the arrest, police say. Police state she was arrested for battery, possession of meth, and criminal damage to property. Lee was sent to the Coles County jail following her arrest.
In other matters, Mattoon police arrested Jovan Dushawn McNell, 27, homeless in Mattoon, for allegedly trespassing Wednesday in the 2000 block of Broadway Avenue. According to police, McNell caused a disturbance at the Mattoon Area PADS homeless shelter and refused to leave at the request of staff upon police arrival. Police report McNell was arrested and then released with a notice to appear in court.
Also, police arrested Morgan M.L. Abernathy, 27, of Charleston for allegedly being in possession of meth at the time of traffic stop Sunday in the 1900 block of Charleston Ave, according to police. Abernathy was taken to the Coles County jail.
Separately, Mattoon police arrested Racheal M.L. Harris, 28, of Mattoon for allegedly being in possession of meth and a controlled substance during a traffic stop Monday in the 2700 block of Broadway Ave. Harris was sent to the Coles County jail, police report.
In another matter, police arrested Brad A. Malone, 42, of Mattoon for alleged domestic battery Tuesday in the 1000 block of Charleston Ave. Police report that Malone battered a female making physical contact with her during an argument. According to the report, the offense was elevated to a felony because of Malone’s prior convictions for domestic battery. He was sent to the Coles County jail.
Mattoon police arrested Harley V. Runner, 26, of Mattoon on a warrant for alleged aggravated fleeing or attempting to elude a peace officer Saturday in the 1600 block of Charleston Ave. The original charge alleges that Runner ran from police during a traffic stop Dec. 17, police say. Runner was taken to the Coles County jail after the arrest was made.
Also, Mattoon police took in Kenneth B. Currie, 50, of Mattoon for alleged forgery Sunday at the Mattoon Police Department. Police state that Currie allegedly passed counterfeit currency to friends, in exchange for real currency. Currie was sent to the Coles County jail.
