We moved into Charleston 1 1/2 years ago because of our age and failing health. I lived here years ago with mom and sister and brother, I have been warned that rules are a lot different than years ago. When we lived here then, fresh from the country, Mom had a few chickens in the back yard, well I didn’t expect to do that but I never thought parking one our vehicles on my driveway with most of the wheels on the grass (so I wouldn’t have to move it when I needed to use our van to make necessary trips for my husband) I would get a ticket for being in my drive way on the grass was illegal, when I asked the policeman he said if it was all on concrete it was okay. Since I was new in town and didn’t know that he, could cancel the ticket, he was very polite. Now I have learned that there are people being paid to drive around and inform on any errors on anyones part. What are we trying to do, become like big cities??? Charleston is a good town and good place to live, don’t mess it up. You see cars all around here that park in the street, with half of the wheels on the grass to give room for traffic but that is okay, whose grass is that? I thought they would rather I be out of the way, if it had snowed and they needed to clear the street, but of course that didn’t happen this year.
