SULLIVAN -- Charlotte May Emel, 87, of Sullivan, passed away at 12:29 a.m. Sunday in the Lakeland Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Effingham.
A memorial reception will be from 2-4 p.m. Saturday December 7, 2019 at the Reed Funeral Home, Sullivan. Private family burial will be at the Greenhill Cemetery, Sullivan.
Charlotte was born July 26, 1932 in Sullivan the daughter of Glen and Mildred Buxton Pierce. She was a member of the Sullivan First Christian Church, the Sullivan Book Club and enjoyed playing bridge. Charlotte was an avid reader and has written a critique for every book she has read since 1992. She has held several offices at the state and regional level for the Disciples of Christ Church and served as vice moderator at the national level. Charlotte owned and managed several Diet Centers in the Central Illinois area. She was very active with the family farm and provided all her family with her wisdom, love and support.
Charlotte married Robert Stanley Emel on December 9, 1951 and he preceded her in death on November 24, 2015.

Surviving are her children Cheryl (Richard) Wildman and Gary (BettyJo) Emel of Sullivan and Jennifer (Mark) Stoltz of Inverness, Florida; brother Paul (Beverly) Pierce of Sullivan; grandchildren Brent (Ryan) Wildman of Sullivan, Jason (Teesha) Wildman of Salem, Carrie (Jeff) Walton of Sikeston, Missouri, Brad (Fayanne) Emel of Sullivan, Sarah (Dave) Melvin of Sullivan, Marisa Stoltz of Inverness, Florida; great grandchildren Keylee and Madigan Wildman, Brycen Wildman, Michael and Evylen Walton, Cora and Lena Emel, Amelia, Harper, and Clyde Melvin and Tristan Simpson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and sister Patricia Cadora.
