MATTOON -- Donald Arthur “Art” Hall, age 64, of Mattoon passed away at 11:21 p.m. on Wednesday, November 27, 2019 at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center.
A private Irish style wake will take place in the future. Schilling Funeral Home is assisting the family.
Art was born on October 30, 1955 in Mattoon the son of Henry Alonzo and Nancy Jean (Ashworth) Hall. He married Brenda Willis on February 23, 1974.

Survivors include his loving wife of nearly 46 years, Brenda Hall; son, Eric Preston (Theresa Longoria) Hall; grandchildren, Alex Lopez and Ricky Lopez; three sisters, two brothers; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters-in-law, cousins and close friends who were family; special canine buddy, Troy. Art was preceded in death by his parents, nephew Matthew Troy Cahill and dog, Dusty.
Art served honorably in the United States Army in “The Big Red 1.” While pursuing his college education he worked at a factory. Art was a firefighter and EMT at the Mattoon Fire Department for 9 years before retiring due to injuries sustained in a fire. After retiring from firefighting, Art was a vocational, photography and computer teacher at the Lovington, Oakland and Sullivan High Schools. He enjoyed home projects, gardening, photography and sports. Art treasured history and the visits to his beloved Ireland. Most of all, He loved spending time with his wife, family and friends. He will be greatly missed.
