GAYS -- Kenneth Edward Norton, age 81, of Gays, IL passed away at 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday, November 28, 2018 at Odd Fellow Rebekah Home.

Memorial services with Military Rites honoring his life will begin at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 8, 2018 at Schilling Funeral Home with Pastor Don Pankey officiating. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 1:00 p.m. until time of service on Saturday, December 8, 2018 at Schilling Funeral Home.

Kenneth was born on April 1, 1937 in Mattoon, IL the son of Kenneth Edward and Reba (Turner) Norton. He married Beverly Mowell on August 23, 1958.

Survivors include his loving wife of 60 years, Beverly Norton; son, Kent (Kathleen) Norton of Snohomish, WA; daughter, Jodi (Tim) Marucco of Charleston, IL; grandchildren, Brandon (Ashlea) Norton of West Jordan, UT, Travis Norton of West Valley City, UT, Jon Marucco of Charleston, IL, Ashtan Marucco of Charleston, IL and Dylan Norton of Snohomish, WA; great grandchildren, Brooklyn, Ryker, Bentley and Hayden; sister, Shirley Olsen of Walnut Creek, CA; brother, Jack Betz of Portland, OR. Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents.

Kenneth served honorably in the United States Marine Corps from 1954-1957. He retired in 1999 from Newton Power Plant where he worked as a machinist. Previously he worked at USI in Tuscola, IL and Firestone in Decatur, IL. Kenneth was a member of the Charleston Gun Club, Moose Lodge, Eagles and the American Legion. He enjoyed cowboy shooting, traveling and machine work. Kenneth meticulously rebuilt a 1934 Ford. Most of all, Kenneth treasured his time spent with his children and grandchildren. He will be greatly missed.

Kenneth's family would like to thank the staff at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center to include Dr. Alao, Dr. Lamonto, special nurses and sitters.
