EFFINGHAM -- Monty D. Hacker, 58, of Effingham, IL, passed away Thursday, November 29, 2018, surrounded by his family, at Carle Hospital of Champaign-Urbana, IL, as a result of secondary complications from emergency abdominal surgery on Tuesday, November 27, 2018.
Monty is survived by his former wife and close friend, Malia Jackson, her daughter Megan and grandson, Gavin; his older sister, Deborah Ann (Hacker) Lindley, husband Scott, and their four children: Joshua Rue; Jessica (Lindley) Isabel, husband Greg and their son, John; Jaclyn Lindley and daughter, Jade Arthur; Brandon Lindley, wife Emily; his older brother, Jeffery Dean Hacker, wife Donna (Shanks) Hacker, their three children: Jana Eliza Thurisa Hacker; Jeremy Dean Hacker, wife Mary and their five children: Jackson, Jerrick, Delaney, Tyler and Joanna; Aaron Robert Hacker, wife Chelsie, and their three children: Matthias, Lainie, and Reuben. He is preceded in death by both his parents, Jay Dean and Dorothy Ann (Beasley) Hacker of Westfield, Illinois.
Monty was born in Paris, Illinois on January 14, 1960. He graduated from Casey-Westfield Jr-Sr High School and later from Lakeland Jr. College, and served in the Navy as an F-14 Tomcat aircraft mechanic on the USS Independence. Monty was a former employee of Caterpillar of Decatur, Illinois, and while employed there served as a union steward of the UAW. Monty was well known throughout his immediate community and enjoyed a wide range of friends whom he treasured dearly, along with his family. Mr. Hacker was very generous, always willing to help others in need. In lieu of flowers donations to your local food bank are always welcome.
Following cremation, a service celebrating Monty's life will be held at 2:00 pm (CST) on Saturday, December 8, 2018 at the Salisbury Church in Hutton Township, 2190 Co. Hwy 5, Charleston, IL 61920 with pastors Ray Finney and Michael Stewart officiating. Spreading of his ashes will follow on the family farm at 4:20 pm where Monty enjoyed many a cook-out and camp-outs with his friends. Please join us in celebrating Monty's life.
