Paul and his dad started Welton Oil Service on April 1, 1953. They worked together until February 1, 1974, when Paul and Carol bought the business from his parents. Paul and Carol worked side by side until Paul had to retire in November of 2017. Paul loved his work and said that going to work every day was his vacation. He had many loyal and wonderful customers and several great employees which were like family to him, especially George Whalen, Chris Nay and Don Wright. They and their wives and families hold a special place in our hearts.

Paul enjoyed showing his antique cars and received first place at the Illinois State Fair for his 1919 Dodge that he had owned since he was 21 years old. He collected many antique and classic cars his entire life and enjoyed showing them.

Most of all, Paul enjoyed his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and was very proud of them.

Memorial donations in his honor may be given to the Sarah Bush Lincoln Cancer Center, St. John’s Lutheran Church or Lincolnland Hospice. Online condolences may be expressed at www.schillingfuneralhome.net or Schilling Funeral Home’s Facebook page.
