I am pleased to endorse Kevin Curtis as a candidate to the Lake Land College Board of Trustees.

I have known Kevin and the Curtis family for at least 40 years and have always found them to be of the highest integrity.

Kevin will bring tremendous assets to the Lake Land Board, the most important of which is his experience as an educator. He taught for five years in the Shelbyville school system and 30 years at Mattoon High School.

As an educator, he has the knowledge and experience of a working school system and how it functions, its relationship with its instructors and students, as well as the community it serves.

Secondly, he is a farmer. As a successful farmer, he has the knowledge it takes to operate a business, from not only the personal commitment to hard work but also the financial aspects of operating a business.

The combination of his educational experience and the operation of the farming business are excellent recommendations for his elections to the Lake Land Board.

Kevin has had an interest in Lake Land Community College for many years. He was instrumental in assisting in establishing a successful agricultural program at Mattoon High School. Both of his children have been students at Lake Land and his son, although in high school, continues to enhance his education through Lake Land. In this, Kevin has also experienced the Lake Land advantage and benefits as a parent.

It is my understanding that the current Lake Land board does not include a farmer or agricultural representative. With Kevin Curtis as a member of the board, Lake Land would have a member who is in touch with the agricultural community. And, with Lake Land located in a district which can be considered agricultural, Kevin's addition to the board would enhance Lake Land's ability to serve its district.

For all of the above reasons, along with my very positive relationship with Kevin and his family over so many years, I wholeheartedly recommend a vote for Kevin Curtis will be a vote for the continued success of Lake Land College,

Phyllis Karpus, Mattoon
