Notice to anyone who lives in Fox Crest Subdivision and had your Market Value (taxes) raised from the Assessor’s office this past month. They are meeting on January 8th at 2pm, so if you want to complain, I urge you to show up. The reason I’m going is my Fair market Value on my house went up $1350 (from $25000 to $26350), which raised my so called appraised value from $75,000 to $79,050 all because I have a deck that is 15 years old. Yet my neighbor down the street just built a new covered porch on the front of his house and back and his value of his house is $23,400 (appraised at $70200). Then I have another neighbor who has two 2 car detached garages all with concrete drives, yet his fair market value is $26,450 ($100 more than mine with only a 1 car attached garage). And there are other in my subdivision who have nicer homes that have fully renovated the inside and outside that are $5,000 fair market value less ($21,000 to $22,000), of course if I were you people I wouldn’t show up to complain.
Fact is, over the last 5 years, NO house in this subdivision has sold for over $68,000 and some of sold for $40,000 or less because the owners filed bankruptcy and they were foreclosed on.
One has to ask, how stupid of people do we have working in our Assessment Office?
Onto another subject, thank you school board on letting the teachers, once again, get out of school 2 hours early every other Friday and inconvenience us parents who work. Damn isn’t it enough they get 2.5 months off during the summer, 2.5 weeks off for Christmas, 1 week off spring break and every holiday you can think of.
