On Dec. 29, many Christian Churches observed "The Slaughter of the Innocent."
This is remembering the baby boys, 2-years-old and younger, who were killed by King Herod because the wise men were looking for a newborn king. When the wise men did not tell King Herod they had found and worshiped baby Jesus, King Herod was concerned about his own reign and ordered all the baby boys 2 years of age and younger near Bethlehem killed. Baby Jesus was safe in Egypt, but all the other boys died.

This day, called "Slaughter of the Innocent," is rightfully observed, but there is another time when innocent lives of babies are destroyed. It became legal to destroy these innocent lives on Jan. 22, 1973, when the U.S. Supreme Court made abortion legal. Today in Illinois a mother has the legal right to allow her child to die if she so chooses. The number of innocent babies killed in Herod's time pales in comparison to those killed in Illinois each and every year through abortion.
Stop abortion. Stop today's Slaughter of the Innocent.
