Martinsville breaks 13 game losing streak
MARTINSVILLE- Martinsville hosted Palestine/Hutsonville for a 45-6 win for its homecoming game on Friday.
Martinsville broke a 13 game losing streak that was started last year. Martinsville is now 1-5 overall and 1-3 in the Little Okaw Valley Conference: Southeast division.
The Bluestreaks will continue in the conference when they travel to Oblong on Friday.
Shelbyville shuts out Clinton
CLINTON — After an emotional week from its coach in the hospital, the Shelbyville Rams defeated Clinton 40-0 in a Central Illinois Conference game. The Rams claimed their sixth win of the season to win an automatic playoff berth for the post-season.
Clinton did not even have a chance to catch up to Shelbyville after the initial kickoff because Shelbyville scored a touchdown from the beginning with a two-point conversion.
The Rams continued to score with 26 points in the second quarter and another six in the fourth.
Shelbyville improves to 6-1 overall, 4-1 in the conference, and continues its season Friday at home when the Rams host Central A&M in another CIC game.
Cumberland cinches playoff berth
OAKLAND — Cumberland won its sixth game of the season Friday, defeating Tri-County 63-12 and ensuring the Pirates an automatic playoff berth.
Cumberland scored in each quarter with 27 points coming in the third period.
Tri-County got a touchdown in the third quarter and in the fourth.
The Titans fall to 3-4 overall, 2-2 in the Little Okaw Valley Conference Southeast division, and travel to Palestine/Hutsonville for another division game Friday.
Cumberland improves to 6-1 overall, 4-0 in the conference, and hosts Villa Grove/Heritage in another division contest Friday.
Sullivan/Okaw Valley loses to Central A & M
MOWEAQUA- Sullivan/Okaw Valley football traveled to Central A & M for a 46-12 loss on Friday.
Sullivan/Okaw Valley’s record is now 0-7 overall and 0-5 in the Central Illinois Conference.
The Redskins will continue in the conference by hosting Decatur St. Teresa for its senior night on Friday.
Casey-Westfield loses to ranked team
BRIDGEPORT- Casey-Westfield traveled to Red Hill High School for a 52-20 loss on Friday.
Casey-Westfield faced a challenge from their opponent that is ranked number ten in the Class 1A for football.
Casey-Westfield is now 1-7 overall and 1-5 in the Little Illini Conference.
The warriors will host Marshall for its senior night and another Little Illini Conference game on Friday.
WSS loses NTC Championship Game
EFFINGHAM — The WSS Hatchets lost in the National Trail Championship Game 6-0 against Effingham St. Anthony on Friday.
The two teams faced off at Paul Smith field in Effingham to end its long week of games.
The Hatchets ended its Fall Campaign with a record of 13-11.
Neoga loses Consolation Championship
EFFINGHAM — Neoga High School baseball team wrapped up their post season with a loss in the consolation championship against Farina South Central on Friday. The game score was 11-3.
Neoga and South Central faced off in Effingham at Evergreen Park to end the National Trail Conference tournament that has been going on for the past week.
Neoga will start again in April for the beginning of its Spring baseball season.
A-L-A-H falls in regional
FITHIAN — Oakwood/Salt Fork defeated Arthur-Lovington-Atwood-Hammond 2-0 Friday in the Champaign St. Thomas More Class 1A regional quarterfinals.
Neoga beats Mulberry Grove
MULBERRY GROVE — The Neoga volleyball team defeated Mulberry Grove in two sets Friday in a non-conference match: 25-13 and 25-18.
Olivia Titus led the Lady Indians with seven kills and two blocks. Aly Easton got 12 assists and Blair Banning scored four aces.
Neoga travels to Pana for the Shelbyville/Pana Tournament on Saturday.
