Lake Land baseball splits
GALLATIN, Tenn.— Lake Land defeated Moraine Valley 5-2 Sunday, but lost to Volunteer State 4-2.
Brady Cappe picked up his second win of the season for the Lakers allowing three hits and two earned runs while striking out three. Alex Moore got the save in relief.
Kevin Reyes batted 2-for-4 and Garrett Brachbill got an RBI.
Lake Land took a 2-0 lead in the second inning, but the Volunteers came back with a run in the fourth and three innings in the bottom of the sixth.
Sam Kimmorley hit a double for the Lakers in the other game. Mitchell Shaw and Brachbill each got an RBI. Parker Nolan took the loss allowing five hits and four earned runs while striking out five in six inning.
Lake Land is now 21-20 and plays a double header at Itawamba in Mississippi staring at 1 p.m. Friday.
Lake Land falls
ULLIN—Shawnee Community College defeated Lake Land 82-76 Saturday.
Lake Land trailed 54-35 at halftime, but outscored Shawnee 41-28 in the second half.
Four Lakers scored in double figures: Josh Jefferson led the team with 21 points, Josh Robinson scored 16, Kasey Elam got 13 and Dazon Farris added 10 points.
Lake Land improves to 16-10 and travels to John A. Logan College for a 7 p.m. start Wednesday.
