MOUNT PROSPECT — Paige Robinson, a 5-10 guard for Okaw Valley, was named to the 15-member Illinois Girls Basketball Coaches All-State Class 1A/2A first team.
"I can't even explain it," said Robinson of the award. "I think I proved myself this year, and I could not have done it without the help of my team and coaches who helped me through this season. It is an amazing honor to get."
The awards were presented at halftime during the third-place game of the Class 1A State Tournament, the game that the Lady Timberwolves were playing in and lost 46-31 to Stockton.
No other JG-TC area player was on the 15-member second team, the 20-member third team or the 20-member fourth team.
Robinson, who was one of 20 on the third team last year, helped guide the Lady Timberwolves to their first Class 1A state tournament appearance. Okaw Valley finished with a school record for number of wins with 29. They were 29-7.
On the season, Robinson was 324 of 694 from the field, which is .467 percent. She was 96-of-272 (.352) from beyond the 3-point line and 123-of-163 (.755) from the free-throw line. She had 867 points for an average of 24.1 points per game, as well as 330 rebounds (9.2 average) and 101 assists (2.8).
