OAKLAND -- The 2017-18 Tri-County boys' basketball team has 11 seniors, three juniors and a sophomore on the varsity roster for coach Dave Smith, who is in his second year.
Last year Smith led the Titans to a 12-17 season. Tri-County went 3-2 in the Little Okaw Valley Conference Southeast Division.
Six players are gone from that team due to graduation, including JG-TC All-Area player TJ Bishop, who led the Titans in scoring, rebounding and steals per game at 12.2, 9.2 and 1.4 respectively. Second team all-LOVC SE Division player Brock Lewis also graduated after averaging 11.3 points per game.
Returning from last year are Cody Richardson and Dylan Campbell, who are the top returning scorers at 8.6 and 7.0 points per game. Richardson is a 5-10 guard, while Campbell is a 6-2 forward. The tallest player on the team is 6-4 senior Erin Beaulieu.
Other seniors include Jackson Barry (averaged 3.4 points per game last year), Jacob Neil (2.1), Donovan Smith (1.1) and Seth Eads (1.8). Matthew Holmes, Xzavier Loyd, Dalton Conner and Dillon Tweedy are also seniors.
Tri-County enters Friday's game at Arcola with a 3-3 record and are currently averaging 52.3 points per game and allowing 52.5. Richardson and Campbell are the top scorers with averages of 13.8 and 9.7 points per game.
Last season the Titans averaged 53.1 points and allowed 56.8.
Tri-County has lost to Westville (54-51), Notre Dame de La Salette (62-41) and Hoopeston Area (66-34) with wins over Georgetown-Ridge Farm (62-38), Armstrong-Potomac (64-44) and Martinsville (62-51).
Tri-County is to play host to Okaw Valley at Kansas Dec. 8 and hosts Salt Fork Dec. 22 at Oakland before the annual Tri-County Holiday Tournament Dec. 27-29 at Kansas. the Titans also have three other road games besides the one at Arcola, including Dec. 16 at Tuscola.
