Lake Land men win GRAC game

MATTOON — Lake Land defeated Great Rivers Athletic Conference foe Southeastern College 87-74 Wednesday in its first conference win this season.

Six Lakers scored in double figures: Denis Alibegovic led the team with 13 points, Allante Harper had 12 while Josh Brewer, Ty Waller, Hunter White and Tromon Weston each added 10 points.

Lake Land improves to 6-11 overall, 1-8 in the conference and travels to Godfrey to play a non-conference game against Lewis and Clark Community College at 3 p.m. Saturday.

MATTOON — Lake Land defeated Southeastern College 67-52 Wednesday in a Great Rivers Athletic Conference game.

Mattoon alumnus Avery Jackson led the Lady Lakers with 20 points. Katrina Christian and Jamie Sandschafer also scored in double figures with 10 points each.

“Southeastern had an eight game winning streak coming into tonight and I thought we did a great job defensively,” said Lake Land coach Dave Johnson. “A young lady who had 37 points in her last game was held to 12 points with Aislinn Parrish and Arie Sims guarding her.”

Lake Land improves to 15-4 overall, 5-3 in the conference and hosts Illinois Central for a non-conference game at 2 p.m. Saturday.
