ST. GEORGE, UTAH -- The Lake Land softball team was eliminated from the NJCAA Division I National Tournament Thursday after losing to Chattanooga State Community College 8-3. 

The No. 14 seed Lady Lakers lost late Wednesday in their first game of the 16-team double-elimination tournament 10-2 to No. 3 seed Chipola. 

Amaya Eubanks was 4-for-7 n the two games for Lake Land with an RBI. 

Lake Land scored first Thursday on a home run by Delanie Johnson, but Chattanooga answered with three runs and never trailed again. The Lady Lakers trailed just 5-2 until Chattanooga scored twice in the bottom of the fifth inning.

Wednesday Lake land also led early, 1-0 after an inning and a half on a single by Kali Husman that scored Katie Nicholson. Chipola took advantage of six errors in the game and took the lead for good with two runs in the second. The Indians added four runs in the fourth to take control. 

Lake Land finished with a 50-19 record after winning the Region 24 tournament by winning three straight games after losing the first game in the double-elimination tournament. Lady Laker coach Nic Nelson won his 500th game when they won the region tournament. 

Lake Land loses eight players due to graduation. The Lakers were 27-7 in the Great Rivers Athletic Conference, good for second place.
