EIU baseball and softball games rained out

CHARLESTON — Heavy rain the Central Illinois area forced the cancellation of Tuesday's scheduled home Eastern Illinois baseball and softball games.

The EIU softball team was scheduled to play its home opener Tuesday with a 3 p.m. doubleheader against Indiana State. This is the third time in the last week that EIU softball has been rained out at home. The Panthers and Sycamores are to attempt to play a single game at 4 p.m. Thursday at Williams Field.  In addition, the Panthers are slated to host Morehead State and Eastern Kentucky Saturday and Sunday in Ohio Valley Conference play.

The EIU baseball team was scheduled to play Illinois State on Tuesday afternoon. The game was originally scheduled to be played in Mattoon but was changed to Coaches Stadium on the EIU campus over the weekend.  Due to the rain, the game has now been canceled and at this time no make-up date has been set. The Panthers are scheduled to play at Indiana State on Wednesday.
