AOC beats Cerro Gordo-Bement

ARTHUR — The Arthur Okaw Christian boys basketball team defeated Cerro Gordo-Bement 67-55 Friday in non-conference action.

Ian Lowry led the Conquering Riders with 18 points, and Peyton Trier also broke into double figures with 17 points.

AOC improves to 10-5 and travels to Arcola for another non-conference game Saturday at 4:15 p.m.

Casey-Westfield wins LIC game

CASEY--The Casey-Westfield boys' basketball team defeated Paris 72-37 Friday in a Little Illini Conference game.

Casey-Westfield improves to 15-1 overall, 2-0 in the conference and plays Teutopolis at the St. Anthony Shootout at 5:30 p.m. Saturday.

Okaw Valley vs. Cumberland postponed

BETHANY — The boys basketball game scheduled for Friday between Cumberland and Okaw Valley was postponed due to a possible scheduling conflict and is to be rescheduled. 

Okaw Valley is scheduled to play a non-conference game Saturday in Neoga starting at 2:30 p.m.

Cumberland plays Effingham St. Anthony in the St. Anthony Shootout on Saturday at 6:30 p.m.

St. Anthony shootout set

EFFINGHAM — The seventh annual St. Anthony Shootout is to start at 12:30 p.m. Saturday at the Enlow Center. There are five games scheduled, including two JG-TC-area teams. Casey-Westfield is to play Teutopolis at 5 p.m., while Cumberland is to take on St. Anthony at 6:30 p.m.


Arcola falls to Villa Grove/Heritage

VILLA GROVE — Arcola trailed Villa Grove/Heritage Thursday just 13-10 after the first quarter and 29-16 at the half. However, the Lady Purple Riders were outscored 22-3 in the third quarter and lost 52-29. 

Taylor Spelman had 13 points to lead Arcola, including three 3-pointers. 

The Lady Purple Riders are to play host to Blue Ridge/Deland-Weldon Monday in a Little Okaw Valley Conference Northwest Division game. 

Little Illini Conference Tournament set

NEWTON — The annual Little Illini Conference Tournament is set to start Thursday with Casey-Westfield, the No. 8 seed taking on the No. 9-seeded Robinson at 7 p.m. The winner is to play top-seeded Paris, while the loser is to play the loser of the Marshall vs. Red Hill game. 

The consolation championship, third-place and championship game are all set for Jan. 17 starting at 5 p.m.
