Miller almost gets triple-double for Sullivan

WARRENSBURG – Esther Miller just missed a triple-double in Sullivan’s win over Warrenburg-Latham on Thursday. Miller scored 14 points to go along with 11 rebounds and had nine steals. She also had three assists as Sullivan won 48-18.

Sullivan held Warrensburg-Latham in the Central Illinois Conference game, to two points in the second quarter to pull away for a 26-9 halftime lead.

Emily White led Sullivan with 20 points.

“This was by far not our most impressive offensive game. However, I thought our defense was tenacious, holding them to single digits in all four quarters and causing them to turn the ball over 35 times,” Sullivan coach Sheri McCain said. “Esther played a tremendous game. Emily shot the ball well from the outside as she hit four three-pointers.”

Sullivan, 8-1 overall and 2-0 in the conference, is to play host to Meridian Monday in another CIC game. 

Okaw Valley loses to Altamont

ALTAMONT – Okaw Valley fell behind early as Altamont scored 24 points in the first quarter and went on to beat the Timberwolves 73-22. Okaw Valley falls to 1-9 on the season.

Kate Jeffers had a double-double in the loss for Okaw Valley in the non-conference game. She had 14 points and 12 rebounds. Shyanne Harding had eight rebounds.

Okaw Valley is to travel to Martinsville Monday.

Shelbyville drops CIC game to Tuscola

TUSCOLA -- Shelbyville fell behind 25-4 after the opening quarter of Thursday's Central Illinois Conference girls' basketball game against Tuscola and couldn't recover. The lady Rams lost 54-12.

Holly Metzger led Shelbyville with seven points.

The Lady Rams, 3-7 overall and 0-2 in the conference, travel to Warrensburg-Latham Monday for another conference game.

A-L-A-H loses to VG/H

VILLA GROVE — The first quarter of the game ended in a one point difference with a score of 12-11 in favor of Villa Grove/Heritage. Villa Grove/Heritage held the lead every quarter. The game ended with VGHS having 58 points and A-L-A-H having 47 points.

Marissa Herschberger was the leading scorer with 22 points for A-L-A-H.

A-L-A-H will be traveling to play Effingham St. Anthony on Saturday.
