Miller sets school record for career points in Rams win

BEECHER CITY -- Shelbyville senior Malcolm Miller broke a record that has stood for 57 years as he became the school's all-time leading scorer in Tuesday's 72-45 win non-conference win over Beecher City/Cowden-Herrick. 

The Rams improved to 15-2 and have taken an eight-game winning streak into their Central Illinois Conference opener of the season Friday against Tuscola. 

The previous record was 2,056 set by Larry Hinton in 1962. Miller has 2,074 currently.

A-L-A-H drops non-conference game

MOWEQUA -- Arthur-Lovington-Atwood-Hammond fell to Central A&M 71-42 Tuesday in a non-conference game.

Austin Plank led the Knights with 12 points. Adam Day got six rebounds and three assists while Isaac Ashenfelter had two steals.

The Knights fell to 1-13 ahead of Friday's home game against Tri-County.

Tri-County falls just short in low-scoring game

HUME -- Tri-County led Notre Dame de La Salette 26-25 after three quarters, but was outscored 11-9 during the fourth in a 36-35 non-conference game Tuesday.

La Salette took a 10-7 lead in the first quarter and led 20-15 at the half. Tri-County outscored the Lions 11-5 in the third quarter to take a 26-25 lead, but couldn't hold on.

Mitch Pollock and Blake Lee each scored nine points for the Titans. Kenzal Lloyd grabbed 10 rebounds and Logan Richardson had two steals.

The Titans, 11-8, have now lost four straight by a total of nine points. Tri-County travels to Arthur-Lovington-Atwood-Hammond for its Little Okaw Valley Conference Southeast division opener Friday.

North Clay/Clay City too much for Martinsville

LOUISVILLE -- Martinsville lost Tuesday's non-conference game to North Clay/Clay City 61-18 as the Cardinals proved to be too much. 

The Bluestreaks, 0-18, travel to St. Elmo to play St. Elmo/Brownstown Monday.

AOC loses

BLOOMINGTON — Arthur Okaw Christian lost a close East Central Illinois Conference game to Bloomington Cornerstone Christian 49-47 Tuesday.

The Conquering Riders took an 11-7 lead in the first quarter, but Bloomington outscored AOC 16-10 to lead 23-21 at halftime. The Conquering Riders regained the lead in the third quarter outscoring Bloomington 16-10, but couldn’t hold on.

Ian Lowry and Sean Mast led AOC with 12 points each.

AOC falls to 11-6 overall, 2-1 in the conference, and plays a non-conference game Thursday at Cowden-Herrick against Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City.
