Sullivan wins 12th straight

NEOGA -- Sullivan jumped out to an 18-6 lead over Neoga Thursday in a non-conference game and went on to outscore the Lady Indians in every quarter in a 55-20 win. 

The Lady Redskins, winners of 12 straight, were led by Esther Miller and Avery Still with 17 and 11 points respectively. 

Neoga, 9-11, was led by Kelsey Partlow and Audrey Ramert with six points each. 

Sullivan, 16-1, is to travel to Mount Zion Saturday for a non-conference game at 11:15 a.m., while Neoga  is to travel to Pana Monday for a non-conference contest. 

WSS downs Okaw Valley

STRASBUIRG—WSS defeated Okaw Valley 55-30 in a non-conference game Thursday. 

WSS used a strong third quarter to pull away as they led 29-21 at the half.

In the third quarter WSS scored 24 points to Okaw Valley's four. 

WSS was led by Meghan Schelechte with 26 points. Kate Jeffers led Okaw Valley with 12 points.

WSS record moves to 14-4 for the season and is to travel to Dieterich Monday for a National Trail Conference game. 

Okaw Valley’s record moves to 3-15 overall and the Lady Timberwolves are to play host to Nokomis Saturday at 6:30 p.m.

Casey-Westfield falls in LIC contest

MARSHALL -- Casey-Westfield fell behind 24-11 after the opening quarter of Thursday's Little Illini Conference game against Marshall and could not catch up in a 67-24 loss. 

Jae Lynn Riggleman led the Lady Warriors with 12 points. 

Casey, 5-12 overall and 0-3 in the conference, is to play host to Olney Monday in another LIC game. 

St. Anthony defeats Shelbyville

SHELBYVILLE—Shelbyville lost to Effingham St. Anthony 57-14.

The Lady Rams trailed 27-10 at the half. The Lady Bulldogs outscored Shelbyville 30-3 in the second half. 

Holly Metzger led Shelbyville  with 6 points.

The overall record for Shelbyville dropped to a 5-12. The Lady Rams are to play at North Clay Saturday at 11:15 a.m.

AOC tops Judah Christian

ARTHUR -- Arthur Okaw Christian earned  a home ECIC win over Judah Christian, 55-26.

Judah was the conference champion last year, while AOC was the conference champion in 2016 and 2017.

Alexa Franklin achieved a double-double with 25 points, 10 rebounds. She also had 9 steals making her one short of a triple double. Amanda Franklin added 19 points, 7 rebounds, and 9 steals for AOC.

The win improved AOC to 12-5 on the season and 2-0 in conference play.

Cumberland loses to Robinson

CUMBERLAND – Cumberland lost to Robinson 43-35 in a non-conference game Thursday. 

Robinson was up at the end of the first half, scoring 25 points. Cumberland was behind Robinson with 15 points.

Sage Carr led Cumberland with 14 points and 8 rebounds. Danae Sowers had 4 assists for Cumberland. Zoe Mitchell had 3 steals as well.

Cumberland is now sitting at a 3-14 record and is to play host Decatur LSA Saturday at 3:30 p.m.

WSS wins NTC game

BROWNSTOWN—WSS defeated National Trail Conference foe Brownstown/St. Elmo 58-48 Wednesday.

Four Hatchets scored in double figures: Nikki Trussel led the team with 17 points, Katrina Davis scored 14 while Megan Schlechte and Hannah Hayes added 12 and 10 points, respectively.


Martinsville drops close game

SANDOVAL -- In a non-conference game Wednesday Martinsville stayed close to Sandoval, but fell short 43-37. 

Lane Ryan led the Bluestreaks with 11 points.

Martinsville, 0-15, is to travel to Hutsoville to play Hutsonville/Palestine Friday in a Little Okaw Valley Conference Southeast Division game.


Charleston looking for JFL coaches

CHARLESTON -- The Charleston Junior Football League is accepting coahcing applications for the 2019 season. 

JFL is for tackle football for fifth through eighth graders. 

The deadline to apply is Jan. 31.
