Tri-County advances to sectional title game

MOWEAQUA — Tri-County defeated Effingham St. Anthony 68-45 Monday in the first game of the Central A&M Class 1A Sectional.

The Lady Titans jumped out to a 17-6 lead in the first quarter and were never threatened.

Tayler Barry led the Lady Titans with 20 points. Harley Barry had a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds along with six steals and six assists. Kiersten Price-Wilson also broke into double digits with 12 points.

Tri-County is now 27-4 and plays the winner of Monday’s Altamont vs. Central A&M game for the Sectional Championship at 7 p.m. Thursday.

Sullivan falls just short

ALTAMONT — Sullivan and St. Elmo/Brownstown were tied at 28 at halftime of Saturday's Central Illinois Conference/National Trail Conference Shootout, but were outscored 15-10 in the third quarter and came up on the short end of a 59-57 game. 

Caden Ellis led the Redskins with 31 points, while Colin Chappel had a season-high 12 points. 

Sullivan, 4-22, hopes to snap a four-game losing streak Tuesday when they play host to Maroa-Forsyth in a non-conference game. 

Okaw Valley wins LOVC-NE game

CERRO GORDO — Okaw Valley defeated Little Okaw Valley Conference Northeast division foe Cerro Gordo-Bement 47-37 Friday.

The Timberwolves grabbed a 16-4 lead in the first quarter and were never in danger of losing the game.

Cameron Sharp scored a season-high 21 points to lead the Timberwolves.

Okaw Valley improves to 9-18 overall, 4-1 in the conference and travels to Arcola for another conference game Tuesday.
