Lily Harrison got one save as goalie and Dru Howell also got one.
Charleston had nine shots on goal while Monticello got two.
“We played a strong game tonight,” said Charleston coach Josh Garrett. “We possessed the ball well and played well as a team.
“Our plan was to score a goal early and keep the momentum and we did that. Hope Griffin and Emily Sweeney had good production offensively and the whole offense moved the ball very effectively.
“Mallie Hanner got a goal in her first varsity match, which is great. The defense communicated well and played well as a unit. Bernie and Alexis came up from the back to help contribute to the scoring effort as well. Everyone got a chance to see the field at some point which was fun for the team.”
